| The HELLP Project |

| The design of the program is as follows: |
| HELLP will offer behavior education and skills training through the provision of fifteen (15) lessons for the at risk children of the Gastonia, North Carolina metro area. The program will focus primarily on the at risk, and high school students (9th through 12th grade level). The program is currenly being taught at Warlick High School with our target on young women. HELLP will be a combined mentoring and class discussion style program held directly in the community and school settings. It will feature relationship skills training utilizing the "Peers & Pairs" curriculum. The curriculum will also encompass modules from the Wait Training curriculum. To reinforce class work on building successful relationships, there will be lessons addressing communications, how to handle conflict and college prep. These life skills lessons will provide information covering the relevant topics of abstinence, dating, domestic violence prevention, financial planning and conflict resolution. |
| Our Approach |
| Objective HELLP seeks to refocus at risk youth in the Gastonia, North Carolina metro area, south of Charlotte, North Carolina. Gastonia, North Carolina is a major suburban city just south of Charlotte, North Carolina. It is a recipient of the many woes and misfortunes in relation to crime, sexual dysfunction, cohabitation in relationships and lack of healthy relationship skills. The HELLP project has partnered with the community of Gastonia to help make a difference. HELLP is at program designed to train high school and middle school students on the importance of making the right choices. Its design is to emphasize abstinence and how to handle conflict effectively. HELLP will strengthen the relationships in the home and in our communities, by influencing the thought process that teens go through when making decisions. |
